David Lynch

David Keith Lynch (* 20. Januar 1946 in Missoula, Montana) ist ein US-amerikanischer Künstler, der zugleich als Filmregisseur, Filmproduzent, Drehbuchautor, Schauspieler, Maler, Fotograf, Lithograf, Skulpturist, Möbeldesigner und Komponist arbeitet.

Bekanntheit erlangte Lynch vor allem durch seine Filme, die sich den Genres surrealistischer Film, Thriller, Horrorfilm und Film noir zuordnen lassen. Lynchs albtraumhafte, surrealistische Bilder und das bedrohliche, minutiöse Sounddesign sind die bestimmenden stilistischen Elemente. Albträume, fremde Welten, Metamorphosen, Voyeurismus und das Unbewusste sind wiederkehrende Themen in filmischen Werken wie Eraserhead (1977), Blue Velvet (1986), Twin Peaks (1990–1991, 2017), Lost Highway (1997) oder auch Mulholland Drive (2001).

Lynch bekam 1990 die Goldene Palme von Cannes für Wild at Heart – Die Geschichte von Sailor und Lula verliehen, 2006 einen Goldenen Löwen für sein Lebenswerk auf den internationalen Filmfestspielen von Venedig. Des Weiteren wurde er viermal für den Oscar nominiert. Am 27. Oktober 2019 wurde ihm der Ehrenoscar verliehen.
