Village helper Katja Baumann takes care of a family that suffered a tragic fate many years ago: their little daughter Marie disappeared without a trace and was never found. Mother Friederike and brother Theo still cling to the hope that Marie will return one day. When Friederike falls ill and Katja takes care of Theo, she quickly realizes that Theo grew up too early and had to take care of himself. How can Katja help the family?
