The Dumb Jock Trope, Explained
In the perilous high school food chain, the jock is king of the jungle. He’s often seen on the arm of the Queen Bee, reinforcing her reign. But while she’s busy manipulating the system, the jock isn’t exactly known for being clever. In fact, he’s usually portrayed as exceptionally dumb. But as the jock character has evolved over the years, we’ve begun to see more nuanced versions of the trope that don’t always live up to the stereotypes.
