Whether it’s the computer programmer living a double life as a hacker, the baker who communicates through pastries and magically maintains a successful small business, or the way seemingly every romcom protagonist just so happens to be an architect, careers onscreen are more often a shorthand for personality traits than an accurate reflection of working life.
