Oxenfree is a spooky teen drama from Night School Studio, an indie studio composed of veterans of Disney and Telltale games. Oxenfree follows a group of teens on the last ferry to an island party... but things don't go as planned, and soon a supernatural threat is on the loose. The puzzles are straightforward, but the scares are subtle. What's truly going on on Edwards Island? That's a mystery for you to solve! In this video, Polygon's Allegra Frank and Colin Campbell debate the games highs and lows.
In her review, Allegra wrote, "I keep coming back to Oxenfree to tinker with the conversations, try out different directions and piece together a new experience. The platforming and puzzles feel like a punishment, but the game continues to grab me despite those shortcomings. There’s something I find so endearing about its confidence, even right out of the gate."
