Inside Molly Sims’ Kid-Friendly Home in Pacific Palisades | Celebrity Homes | Architectural Digest

In this episode of 'Celebrity Homes', model and actress Molly Sims sought both form and function when designing her growing family’s house in Pacific Palisades.

If Molly Sims weren’t a model and actress, there’s a very good chance the mother of three would be an interior designer. But that doesn't mean Sims, who just gave birth to her third child with producer husband Scott Stuber in January, was ready to fly solo when decorating the family’s newly constructed house in Pacific Palisades. She enlisted the help of interior designer Dan Scotti, the founder of Dan Scotti Design, whom she had worked with on a loft in New York City and her house in the Hamptons.

Scotti accompanied Sims and Stuber, who married in 2011, house hunting, eventually overseeing final architectural changes on the home that the couple chose in 2015. Sims took advantage of Scotti's experience. When they purchased the Pacific Palisades house, it was only about 80 percent done. The interiors had not been completed, and the floors had not been finished. Sims and Scotti had a lot of decisions to make.

He picked up Charter adjustable chaise lounge chairs from Summit. To make the home highly photogenic, Scotti relied on a clean, modern aesthetic, with singular pops of color. A deep naval blue was used on the backsplash tile in the kitchen, highlighting the vintage Paris street globes with custom bronze canopies. In the playroom, red was used throughout, like on the banquette fabric from Summit. And in the dining room, a colorful oil painting was used as the centerpiece to help Scotti and Sims make furniture decisions. The natural vistas didn't hurt, either. He made all outdoor furniture selections and placements based entirely on the lush scenery and newly installed fire pit.

A home theater was a priority for Stuber, who uses the space to entertain his Hollywood colleagues and his kids. Scotti adds that Stuber's top request was to install effective soundproofing. Adjacent to the theater is a wet bar, complete with hand-made Moroccan tiles from Mosaic House.

Other memorabilia from Stuber's work can be seen throughout the home: The teddy bear in the playroom is literally Ted, from the films Ted and Ted 2, which Stuber produced. The room was originally meant to be a paneled formal library, but the couple decided the space, adjacent to the kitchen and family room, would be better utilized as a spot for the children. Scotti designed a custom banquette with deep storage, upholstered in fabric from Summit Pacific Design Center.

Another one of Sims’s objectives was to create a home that is both decorative and durable. In the family room, Scotti chose a custom Sacco rug in charcoal grey that is “sort of chunky but really soft because we knew young kids would be crawling around on it.” Scotti also created a custom coffee table with soft corners in cerused oak by Lucca Antiques in Los Angeles. But the of the utmost importance, at least for Sims, was the couch.
