Jeff McCurry became a photographer at the Cincinnati Zoo while on a journey chasing butterflies. His incredible skills lead him to become Harambe's personal photographer and good friend. After the gorilla's tragic death 5-years-ago, Jeff's photos were turned into memes that were spread across the globe and viewed by millions.
We recently sat down with the man behind the camera a few days away from the anniversary of Harambe's death and listened to the incredible story of his time with everyone's favorite boy and how he felt about his photos becoming meme material for all to use.
