Hasan Balaban, an Ottoman janissary who participated in the 1683 Siege of Vienna, sought refuge in the Italian village of Moena after being severely wounded. There, with the help of the local people, he survives and becomes a hero in the village. This documentary invites viewers to discover the forgotten story of Balaban, whose life was reshaped by the effects of war, and explore his legacy in the village. It also reveals how the Ottoman Empire left its mark in a different geography after the war.
