This fall, Valve will give 300 lucky Steam users the chance to test prototypes of Steam Machines, set to launch in 2014. These machines will run SteamOS and are part of Valve's plan to bring its games to the living room. Steam Machines will also be "completely upgradeable and open" and will let users hack it, swap out hardware and change software. The last of the company's three scheduled announcements will drop on Friday, and Valve have hinted that it may concern input methods.
