I haven't read the book, so, I don't know how much the movie is like the book. It's been quite a few years since I've seen this, but I do remember it WASN'T A COMEDY AT ALL. Sure, there was only one amusing scene, but then, the rest is a drama with some extremely sad scenes. It would be too sad for some children, so, watch it before you show it to your kids, I guess. Anyway, it's a good drama.

if i`m remembering correctly, this movie had some sad parts about the dog. animals should always be cherished and protected, whether a cat, dog, or other animal. :)

I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH IT IS SO HEART WARMING AND I RECOMMEND THIS CLASSIC TO EVERYONE!I REMEMBER WHEN I USED TO WATCH IT ALMOST EVERYDAY WHEN I WAS 7 OR SOMETHING BECAUSE THIS CAME OUT 2 YEARS BEFORE I WAS BORN!
