Im a fan of stop-animation, particularly Harryhausen's work, so much so my
youngest girl used stop-motion for a school report on dinosaurs. This movie
offered plenty of it, all in top form... ...a hazard of the genre is that
the quality of animation is more difficult to maintain as the creature
becomes more complex; these creatures are abundant, well executed, and
complex enough to make the effort worthy of remark. Storyline will appeal
to fans who are "mush-hungry" in search of a love story selection to enjoy
with a date, action movie fans, fans of the genre in general, as those who
enjoy the ground-breaking special effects of an age gone-by in FULL COLOR
no less! Nobody but kinfolk win all the rating stars, so this movie rates
higher as they get, except for those stuck to my refrigerator door !

Great plot and character development! Great considering NO CG used, VERY realistic using the REAL THING or scale models! Get ready for a wild ride at the beginning! Important how they ALL must work together, much we can learn about cooperation here! Giant Crab, Bird, and Bees my favorites! No Giant Spiders to scare you! Was a little "racy" for the era, as they needed to "strip away" the heavy clothes to go native.

My type of si-fi adventure, out of the frying pan and into the fire for the protaganists. This version of Mysterious Island, 1961, is the best screen adaption of the story and delivers a poignent message of barbarism vs peaceful coexistence. American Civil war meets Voyage to the bottom of the sea
