This story based on true events glamorizes a young man's crime spree in Buenos Aires in the 1970s. It's beautifully shot although the dialogue is at times delivered in a way that is a little flat and devoid of the drama that underlies the story. Nevertheless, the title character, "El Angel" played by Lorenzo Ferro, captures the narcissism and sociopathy that led the real life person, Carlos Robledo Puch, to rob and kill his way to prison, where he remains today. For better or for worse, the story is capitvating not least because it centers on the sensual/sexual attraction between El Angel and his partner in crime, Ramon, played by Chino Darin.

The pacing, the acting, the writing, the direction, the music -- everything: simply amazing. Definitely my favorite film of 2018 in a pool of recycled studio superheroes and tired same old same olds. Lorenzo Ferro is truly a fresh face talent to watch in this Argentinean masterpiece.
