LOVED THIS MOVIE....IT IS PURE MAGIC. Again....PURE MAGIC. (!!!) AND I DID
READ THE BOOKS! The thing is, anytime you go into a movie expecting it to
be JUST like whatever book it is based on, you are setting yourself
up...duuuhhhhhh!! Movies ARE NOT BOOKS. (Like, hello?! Cant believe i have
to point this out). Gone with the Wind wasnt like the book, (at all...),
The Lord of the Rings movies were not "like the books", "Dorian Gray" was
not like the book, "I am Number Four" was not "like the BOOK", etc. Etc. As
a MOVIE, Beautiful Creatures had me hooked from the opening scene. Why? 1)
The narration was IMMEDIATELY engaging and pulled you right in, 2) the
cinematography was beautiful, (oh, that scene of ethan running through that
line of trees on the horizon at dawn...breathtaking) 3) the locations and
settings (i.e., town main street, the cemetery, Ethans house, etc) in those
opening scenes were totally as I would imagine they should be from reading
the books (note that I didnt say "its not like it was in the books",
because everyone's IMAGINATIVE INTERPRETATION of what locations described
in the book "should" look like is going to be DIFFERENT!), 4) the character
of Ethan as played by Ehrenreich (now the new Han Solo) was funny,
engaging, immediately likeable and totally believable, and... 5) that
AMAZING MUSICAL SCORE, so lush and mysterious, with a taste of southern
bluesy-ness, added the cherry on top of the cake that is this entire movie.
I am usually DONE with any movie once Ive watched it once, but this one had
such delicious magic in it, that I actually watched it TWICE, and then went
out and purchased it so I could re-watch it whenever. This movie has
DEPTH....THE MAIN CHARACTERS HAVE DEPTH, AUTHENTICITY, LIKEABILITY,
RELATABILITY, and you just root for them from the get-go. The settings are
lush and beautiful, and the actors (yes, Jeremy Irons included, and
especially the amazing VIOLA DAVIS) do a fantastic job of acting exactly as
they are supposed to! IVE SEEN THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS, (good, not great),
TWILIGHT (uughhh - SO bad!!), I AM NUMBER FOUR, (pretty entertaining), have
watched The Vampire Diaries after reading All of THOSE books, and THIS
MOVIE IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. CANNOT GIVE IT ENOUGH STARS.

The books were sooo good but the movie not so good. I mean I liked it and I want them too make all of the books into movies but really I think they rushed through it. For example they left out a lot of characters, hired bad actors that didn't match the characters in the book exept for ethan, lena, the dog, sarafine and macon the rest were bad especialy ridly she didn't look any thing like she did in the book. They also left out a buntch of things and just didn't fallow the srory line. DISAPIONTING

I read all the books. Was super excited for the movie. Most movies take some liberty with the plot and so on-this was a complete piece of dirt waste of time and money for all parties involved. Beyond horrible casting and acting jeremy irons let me down and i had to read the book again to get this trashout if my mind.If i could rate lower than 1 star i would have. Giant disappointment for book fans.
