My point of view on this movie is I think they did a good job showing the love the two young characters had in their early years. As for the older characters coming in contact with each other again I think their chemistry wasn't really there to show how much they missed and wanted each other. When they would talk it seemed to monotone and just not enough emotion. Overall though cute movie and a diffrent plot from other love stories

Love ALL of Nicholas Sparks books and most of his movies. This one however, while it was still a beautifully told story and as usual, so very heart wrenching, it was a bit of a disappointment. The younger characters looked nothing like the older ones and there were so many changes from the original story line. I couldn't help but get angry watching the movie thinking "that's not how it happened!" If you haven't read the book yet, you'll love it, but if you've read the book, grrrrr!

This movie will occupy your time for 117 minutes but don't expect much. One of the biggest problems is the characters used in the flashback. The guy looks nothing like his futue self who is a good 2 inches shorter and has a totally different bone structure. Be prepared for extreme (lethal) abusive violence, an absolute must for a chick flick right? Walking Tall is a better movie for this. Also be prepared for marital infidelity of the main character and the supposed notion that it's ok to leave someone if you love someone else. I won't give away the ending but I actually made a joke to my wife about what I thought would happen (train scene), she laughed, but when it was actually the ending she laughed even louder. It was cheesy beyond belief. Just watch The Notebook again.
