Transcript:
In 2009, Amir Rao and Gavin Simon left their cushy jobs at EA to pursue their dream of creating a game they were passionate about without being crippled by the miles of red tape that came with large studios. The two established Supergiant Games and set up their new office in San Jose, California in the living room of Amir's Dad's house. Despite having been advised not to start a company with friends, they formed a staff of seven by calling up old roommates and childhood pals including New York-based composer Darren Korb.
Their first game was self-funded, so both the company's future and their bank accounts depended upon the reception of Bastion. In 2011, Bastion was distributed by Warner Brothers and earned awards including Best Downloadable Game, and Best Debut Award for Supergiant Games. In response to fan demand, Supergiant Games also released a full award-winning soundtrack album. With the success of Bastion, Supergiant Games moved out of the living room into an office in San Francisco, expanded their staff to twelve, and delighted fans by setting their sights on a new project: Transistor. Have Fun!
