Julia tient un cours de fitness pour jeunes mamans et femmes enceintes. Elle rêve de rencontrer l'âme sœur et de fonder une famille. Un jour, un homme veuf, Scott, débarque à son cours avec son bébé. Il l'embauche comme nounou quelques jours par semaine. Dès lors, un trouble naît entre eux, mais Scott n'ose s'avouer l'attirance qu'il éprouve pour elle. Julia s'attache également à ses deux enfants, mais elle se fait rejeter par l'aînée, persuadée qu'elle cherche à remplacer sa mère. Julia tente donc de gagner sa confiance et de nouer une complicité avec elle. Mais elle a du mal à trouver sa place au sein de cette famille meurtrie...
