This is a guideline to start from. Based on multiple forum conversations and interviews, but at the end of the day, the best sound mix is the one that tells your story and helps convey it's theme and emotions, and is always open for creative influence or change, but sometimes it helps to see numbers to get started.

"Beginner's Mixing Cheat Sheet" By Corridor Digital
DX: Dialogue
SX: Sound Effects
FX: Foley Effects
MX: Music
BX: Background
ONLINE: (Calibrate Speakers at a “Reference Tone” of -10db)
Master: 0 to -18db
Dialogue: -1/-5 to -10db
Effects: -1 to -22db
Music: -1 to -18/-28db
Background: -1 to -18/ -28db
(For SamandNiko Channel content, we try to stay Mx & Bx -20 to -28db)
Our music varies between -18 and -28db, our dialogue peaks between -1 and -5db, so that's why it's labeled the way it is.
TV/DVD: (Calibrate Speakers at a “Reference Tone” of -12db)
Master: -6 to -18db
Dialogue: -6 to -12db
Effects: -3 to -18db
Music: -3 to -18db
Background: -6 to -18db
THEATRICAL: (Calibrate Speakers at a “Reference Tone” of -20db)
Master: -3 to -35db
Dialogue: -12 to -16db
(peaks/screams can go as loud as -6db) (hardcore whispering can go as low as -20db)
Effects: -3 to -35db
Music: -3 to -35db
Background: -12 to -35db
