In the "of masks and dragons" cinematic trailer for Dark Souls 2, players had their curiosity piqued by assassin-styled enemies wearing white porcelain masks. However, curiosity turned to confusion when these enemies weren't found in-game. It was later discovered that they just had their heads removed in the development process.
Dark Souls was supposed to be released on September the 22nd, but some players in Japan managed to get the game early and went online. Unimpressed, the developers sent their immensely powerful characters to invade the worlds of early players, giving them more of that Dark Souls experience (death)
There are a number of items and NPC's that exist across all of FROM SOFTWARE's games, and Dark Souls 2 is no different. The moonlight greatsword, sticky white-stuff and Patches all made it into the game in some shape or form. Although Patches seems to be in disguise this time around..
