In a fight with whites, the Indian Winnetou (Pierre Brice), the chief of the Apaches, is seriously injured and healthily nursed by Charbonneau (Jean-Claude Deret). Once again, Winnetou is unsavory, but with pleasant consequences: a young Comanche warrior (Eric Do Hieu) steals his horse, but through the incident, both get to know each other better and become friends, which is unusual because the tribes of the Comanches and Apaches are hostile. Winnetou gives him the name Tashunko, which means "black horse". The two have many experiences in common, fighting white oppression, and occasionally Winnetou's other friends Sam Hawkins (Ralf Wolter) and Old Shatterhand (Siegfried Rauch) appear.
