Pain, anger and despair - that's how it looks in Alex Schwarz, who innocently served seven years in prison for the murder of his wife. His 15-year-old son Lasse and 12-year-old Lena, who grew up with his sister-in-law Marion, don't want to know anything more about their biological father. For them there is no doubt that he has killed their mom, although Alex denied the crime in court. Alex gets the chance for a new beginning when the former prosecution witness revokes his false testimony.
In freedom, however, a new gauntlet begins for him, because nobody but his brother Daniel believes in his innocence. For Marion and her husband Uwe there is much more at stake than the question of justice. The childless couple fears for their family happiness with the two foster children, which was built up after the tragedy of their sister. Marion therefore hopes that the reopening of the police investigation will result in something that will put her hated ex-brother-in-law behind bars again.
