Takemichi Hanagaki hasn't exactly led a successful life. He's had a series of unexciting jobs, and when he discovers that Hinata Tachibana, his only girlfriend from high school, has been murdered by the ruthless Tokyo Manji-kai gang, he's deeply upset.
