October 1988, Kumamoto Prefecture. The country has seen almost its entire rail network disappear, yet thanks to a successful tourism promotion operation, the town of Ohitoyo has become a sacred ground for the rebirth of railroads. Its success is based in part on the 8620 steam locomotive and its Railord Hachiroku. Today, it hosts the first annual Maitetsu Festival, an event that brings together railway professionals from all over the country to share their expertise and encourage the revival of railway lines.
