After being dismissed from the Police Judiciaire for insubordination, Antoine Verlay, a competent but somewhat hot-tempered policeman who has difficulty working as part of a team, is transferred to the OCBC (Office Central pour la lutte contre le trafic des Biens Culturels) thanks to the intervention of Commandant Pardo, his friend who consequently becomes his new superior. An astute but culturally ignorant investigator, Antoine is forced to collaborate with Florence Chassagne, an eminent art historian who lives, talks and breathes culture to the point that, driven by an overactive imagination, she sometimes visualizes and converses with great deceased artists as if they were close acquaintances in her daydreams.
