The island of Brittany, end of the 5th century. As the Roman Empire fell and Christianity gradually triumphed over the pagan gods, the kingdom of Logres organized itself around its sovereign, King Arthur. Arthur Pendragon, known as the Just, is the legendary king of the island of Brittany and the ruler of the kingdom of Logres, which he governs from his castle in Kaamelott. Surrounded by faithful knights, he embarks on a mission entrusted to him by the gods: to seek the Holy Grail.
However, this quest is more than complicated, because Arthur is very badly surrounded. His Knights of the Round Table are a bunch of cowards. Fearful and stupid, the army seems unable to provide King Arthur with what he wants. The king's entourage is hardly wise.
Leodagan is the stubborn, impulsive, violent and severe king of Carmelide, and does not miss an opportunity to criticize the "softness" of Arthur's government. Percival of Wales is naive, but lucid. He can neither read nor write and has a rather limited vocabulary. Karadoc of Vannes is, like Percival, a modest knight. He is Percival's best friend and is as incompetent as Percival when it comes to quests and fighting.
King Arthur has plenty to do. His already busy life is peppered with conflicts with his wife Guinevere and his parents-in-law. In addition, the country is regularly the target of barbarian raids.
The first days of peace after the construction of Kaamelott and the beginning of the quest for the Grail have quickly given way to a more difficult and darker daily life for the king.
