Georgia's wealthy husband, Kenny, has just died in a car accident. But the inheritance is in jeopardy, as Kenny's ex-wife contests the will.
Upon arriving in Wellsbury, Georgia takes an interest in the town's mayor, Paul Randolph (Scott Porter), and gets a job at City Hall.

Meanwhile, Ginny finds a friend in Wellsbury, Maxine (Sara Waisglass). Ginny is attracted to Maxine's twin brother, Marcus (Felix Mallard).

Flashbacks tell the story of Georgia's adolescence.
