Ku'damm 56 is a drama miniseries which tells the story of the family Schöllack in Berlin, Germany in the 1950s. Caterina Schöllack runs a prestigious dance school in Berlin. Her main concerns are marrying off her three daughters - Monika, Eva, and Helga - to wealthy or well-established gentlemen and keeping the traditions in her dance school 'Galant'. But one daughter, Monika, struggles with adulthood and her role as a woman in this time; she is fascinated by a whole new world with quiffs, leather jackets, petticoats and American rock'n'roll.
This year, major global distributors and networks (including Paramount, Sony, and ZDF) are expected to attend in search of the next breakout hits. Three titles are already generating buzz: Boston Blue, The Miniature Wife, and Ku’damm 77, all screened exclusively at the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals.
The opening night of MIPCOM 2025 was marked by the world premiere of Boston Blue. Premiering yesterday in its international debut, The Miniature Wife has already caught attention for its daring concept. The story begins with a technological mishap: a wife (played by Elizabeth Banks, known for Pitch Perfect and The Hunger Games) is accidentally miniaturized, triggering an unexpected power struggle between the spouses. Alongside her, Matthew Macfadyen (Succession, Death by Lightning) portrays the overwhelmed husband struggling to cope with the transformation. The series promises a sharp, inventive exploration of intimacy, imbalance, and modern relationships through a contemporary, darkly comic lens.
