Harry Pollitt

Harry Pollitt (1890 –1960) was a leading British communist, trade unionist, and anti-colonial revolutionary, most famous for serving as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB). Pollitt spent most of his life advocating communism, and was particularly inspired by the political beliefs of both Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin. Pollitt was a life-long opponent of both fascism and British colonialism, using his position as a communist leader to organise CPGB activists to secretly smuggle funding to both communist resistance in Nazi Germany and Indian communists resisting British colonialism.
