Yan Revazov was born near the Black Sea in Russia in 1980. He studied at the Bolshoi Ballet School of Dance in Moscow and became a professional ballet dancer. His love of photography began at only nine years old when he transformed his bedroom into a darkroom after finding a Zorki at home.
In his ballet-dancing career, he took photos during performances on stage and behind the scenes and when an injury forced him to retire, he became a full-time photographer. Now, photography means everything to him.
He worked for theatres and companies as a photographer before settling in Berlin where he now lives, works and has his studio. He loves stage photography, portraying artistes and feels that the most important thing is not the place but the subject.
