Bipolar disorder also known as manic depression, is a mental illness that brings severe high and low moods and changes in sleep, energy, thinking, and behavior. You can think of the highs and the lows as two "poles" of mood, which is why it's called "bipolar" disorder. The main difference between bipolar 1 and bipolar 2 disorders lies in the severity of the manic episodes caused by each type. A person with bipolar 1 will experience a full manic episode, while a person with bipolar 2 will experience only a hypomanic episode (a period that's less severe than a full manic episode). Carrie Fisher who played the role of Princess Leia in Star Wars have also suffered from bipolar disorder. Other celebrities known to have suffered from from bipolar include:
Demi Levato -(actress and singer)
Robert Lowell - (famous American Poet)
Virginia Wold - (20th-century novelist}
Vincent van Gogh - (legendary artist)
Do you know anyone who might be suffering from bipolar disorder? Do you agree that bipolar disorder can also have it's pros and cons?
