Under Stalin's rule, hundreds of thousands of children were arrested and deported to the Gulag. Born of "enemies of the people", they were condemned for the alleged crimes of their parents and their detention lasted for years. Others were born there, from love stories or as a result of rape. They too remained prisoners there, forcibly separated from their mother. After their release, many of the survivors stayed behind, notably in Kazakhstan where there was a gulag department for women and children. This documentary goes to meet former prisoners... All tell their story, all tell the hell of the Gulag.
