If you're looking for an intriguing blend of crime, drama, horror and mystery, then 'Evil' might just be the perfect series for you. This American supernatural drama television series has been garnering critical acclaim since it first premiered in 2019. From the creators Robert and Michelle King who are also known for their stellar work on 'The Good Wife', comes a thrilling exploration of the supernatural versus science.
The narrative follows skeptical clinical psychologist Dr. Kristen Bouchard played by Katja Herbers (familiar from her roles in Westworld and The Leftovers), priest-in-training David Acosta portrayed by Mike Colter (known from his roles in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and American Horror Story), and blue-collar contractor Ben Shakir brought to life by Aasif Mandvi (recognized from his appearances in Sex and the City). Together they make up an unlikely trio commissioned by the Catholic Church to investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences. Their aim? To determine whether there's a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.
Beyond its captivating plotlines that oscillate between seeming miracles and sinister mysteries, one of Evil's strengths lies in its cast of richly drawn characters. The main trio offers a fascinating dynamic - their contrasting backgrounds add depth to their shared mission while also providing unique perspectives towards each case they tackle. Alongside them is a supporting cast equally as compelling including Michael Emerson as Dr Leland Townsend whose role adds chilling layers to each episode.
