The Heirs of the Dragon

24K members

Harrenhal, 101 AD.
King Jaehaerys Targaryen gathers all the Lords of the Seven Kingdoms and his relatives to choose his heir. Indeed, his two sons died in battle. He hesitates between Princess Rhaenys Targaryen (only child of Jaehaerys' eldest son) and Prince Viserys Targaryen (eldest son of Jaehaerys' second son). The High Council chooses Prince Viserys Targaryen.

Nine years have passed. Viserys and Amma are expecting a second child. After many miscarriages, the King hopes for a boy. They are already parents of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. She owns a dragon, Syrax. She is accompanied by Lady Alicent Hightower, and Harrold Westerling.

During a council, the master of ships Lord Corlys Velaryon warns the king of the threat that could represent the Triarchy, an alliance of three cities of Essos.

The King holds a tournament to celebrate his Queen's pregnancy. Sir Criston Cole, an unassuming knight, manages to defeat Prince Daemon. At the same time, Queen Aemma dies in childbirth after giving birth to her son named Baelon. But he also dies shortly after his birth.

Otto Hightower, the King's right-hand man, tells the King that Daemon has toasted the dead Prince Baelon. Shocked by this behavior, the King banishes his brother and names his daughter Rhaenyra as the crown princess. While Rhaenyra is being celebrated as the new princess, Daemon leaves the kingdom on the back of his dragon, Caraxes.
