Adam holds Martha captive in 2020. On the day of the apocalypse, an increasingly frantic Martha begs Bartosz for his help.
In today's streaming age, there's no shortage of quality content vying for our attention. But few series have captured viewers' imaginations quite like Netflix's Stranger Things. Set in 1980s Indiana, this captivating show combines elements of adventure, drama, fantasy, horror and science-fiction to serve up an intoxicating cocktail of nostalgia and suspense.
At its core, Stranger Things is about a group of lovable young friends who stumble upon supernatural forces and secret government exploits in their small town. This premise might sound familiar - echoes of popular 80s films like E.T., The Goonies and Stand By Me are evident - but the Duffer Brothers manage to put a fresh spin on these well-trodden themes.
The ensemble cast is led by Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven (or El for short), a girl with telekinetic abilities who befriends Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin). These kids' performances are undoubtedly one of the show's highlights; they're both heartwarmingly real in their friendships and impressively adept at handling the series' more dramatic moments.
