Castlevania: Nocturne Announced – a Spin-Off of the Beloved Netflix Show

Netflix has announced Castlevania: Nocturne, a spin-off from the beloved TV series (itself based on a beloved video game series).

Announced at Netflix Geeked Week, the show will star Richter Belmont, a descendent of the original show’s Trevor Belmont and Sypha. He’ll be joined by Maria Renard, another character from the original games. It will be set during the events of the French Revolution – although you can likely expect a lot more monsters than the history books tell you about.

The show is in production now, but no release date was announced. A teaser is all we’ve seen so far:

We called the original run of Castlevania “one of Netflix’s best original series and the uncontested champion of video game adaptations.” We named Season 4 one of the best animated shows of 2021, and some of the best horror TV on Netflix.

However, the show came to an end after four seasons, following scandals surrounding its creator Warren Ellis. A spin-off was formally announced last year, and the new show will be headed up by Castlevania producer Kevin Kolde.
