Some movie trailers over the decades have had the terrible habit of spoiling minor or major plot points that take away from the final film. Sometimes this is done to entice audiences to see what else the movie has to offer and other times it’s done for reasons I can’t quite comprehend. Like how Iron Man was caught by Hulk in The Avengers. I mean come on, awesome scene, why ruin that surprise? WHY?
Some trailers have the best intentions not to spoil something but end up giving away plot points, like it was with Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Trek: Into Darkness. But then you’ve got movies that just flat out tell you the entire plot like Michael Bay’s The Island. Or probably the Hitman movies, I dunno, I can’t remember.
It’s a fine line to walk and something Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has taken a lot of heat for recently for revealing Doomsday as the third act villain (that trailer isn’t included in this list because as of this video being released the film’s not out yet). It seems to be a lesson that movie studio’s continue not to learn. But what can we do? Nothing! Or we can rise up, as one! AND DESTROY MOVIES ONCE AND FOR ALL. Or just like, not watch trailers. There might be a middle ground but for the life of me I don’t know what it is.
