After opening its doors in 2003, Ready at Dawn studios enjoyed continued success on the PSP with titles like Daxter and God of War: Chains of Olympus. In 2005, Ru Weerasuriya began writing concepts for a new game based real historical events. He decided upon a new story that takes us to an alternate timeline with ties to King Arthur and his knights of the round table and Victorian London.
Sony was intrigued by a "Neo-Victorian" London setting in an alternate timeline, which led to Sony approving the project for development on the then unannounced Next-Gen system that would be Playstation 4.
Inspired by Uncharted’s cinematic techniques and massive set pieces, Ready at Dawn sought to make The Order “filmic,” meaning they were out to shoot the game as much as they were developing it. Ru, an amateur photographer, created in-engine lenses emulated from his real life camera kit to give The Order a visual style typical of a Hollywood blockbuster.
Now, after five years in development and nearly a decade since they opened their doors, Ready at Dawn finally has their shot at both an original IP and their first triple-A title unhindered by limitations of a handheld console.
Have fun!
