Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison has opened up about the legendary Star Wars bounty hunter and has revealed he would love to see him get “back to his badass ways.”
Speaking to ET, Morrison discussed the future of the iconic character he first played in season 2 of The Mandalorian and then again in The Book of Boba Fett.
While he admits his fate is “out of my control,” he does have some thoughts, especially now that Fett is the new Daimyo of Mos Espa after he moved in on the late Jabba the Hutt’s territory.
“We’ve got to bring him back somewhere. We’ve got to see the old Boba Fett,” Morrison said. “We reintroduced him. We found out some stuff. But I think it’s time to get him back to his badass ways. No two ways around that. So, I think we sort of have that scope to go back there, but that’s out of my control. I’ll just see what happens.”
In our review of The Book of Boba Fett’s first season, we shared the sentiment that the team behind the series may have “softened [Boba Fett’s] edges too much”
“Morrison’s grounded delivery, dry wit, and physical prowess in battle help to flesh out a previously unreadable character, but this trend of ameliorating classic villains has maybe softened his edges too much,” IGN’s reviewer Hanna Ines Flint wrote. “He’s still a crime boss after all, so it’s a shame we’re getting more Maleficent than Omar Little with this antihero reboot.”
As of this writing, there is no word as to whether The Book of Boba Fett will return for a second season or if we will potentially learn more of the bounty hunter’s story in The Mandalorian or otherwise.
We do know that The Mandalorian’s third season will arrive in February 2023, so hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long to see what the future holds for Boba Fett.
