Disney Plus’s new Big Hero 6 animated series, Baymax!, will be released on June 29.
The six-episode series, once again set in the fictional San Fransokyo, sees Baymax doing “what he was programmed to do: help others,” according to Disney.
The company announced the release date alongside a new Baymax! trailer and poster (both of which can be seen below).
“I thought it would be fun to do a Disney+ series with Baymax interacting with normal folks,” said series creator and Big Hero 6 director Don Hall. “In each of our six episodes, Baymax just wants to help someone — and a lot of times they don’t want to be helped. He sets out to fix a physical issue that he’s identified, and in the process, gets to a deeper, more emotional place and can be almost transformative in that role.”
Baymax voice actor Scott Adsit returns for the new series, alongside Maya Rudolph (SNL), Ryan Potter (Titans), Emily Kuroda, Lilimar, Zeno Robinson, and Jaboukie Young-White. This is the character’s second attempt at small-screen stardom, following Disney XD’s Big Hero 6: The Series in 2017.
In other Disney Plus news, the streaming network is reportedly working on a new Daredevil series. For more on what subscribers can look forward to, here’s a complete list of everything new to Disney Plus in May.
