Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-director Peter Ramsey is set to travel to that galaxy far, far away to direct at least one episode of the upcoming Star Wars series Ahsoka.
As reported by THR, Ramsey, who was the first Black filmmaker to win an animated feature Oscar, will be one of the directors of the series that will begin shooting in Los Angeles later this month. Ahsoka’s additional directors and its episode count have yet to be revealed.
Ahsoka will star Rosario Dawson, the actress that brought the Togruta who walked away from the Jedi Order to live-action after she was first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. While Ashley Eckstein lent her voice to Ahsoka in the animated series, Dawson has been bringing her to life in the live-action space since Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian.
Joining Dawson will be Hayden Christensen, Ray Stevenson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo.
Ahsoka co-creator Dave Filoni will be writing the series and has revealed that he’s had the idea for a standalone series based around the character for a “long time.”
While we may still have to wait a bit for Ahsoka, Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series is just around the corner. On May 27, the first two episodes of the series will premiere and will tell a story that is set 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.
